
The electoral magistrate Reyes Rodríguez Mondragón has decided to accept the extension of the term granted by the judicial reform to the members of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF), despite having initially expressed his disagreement with the election of members of the Federal Judiciary. This decision was made before the established deadline for the extension expired.
In a conversation with Judge Karina Ibarra, the magistrate of the Superior Chamber of the TEPJF, Felipe de la Mata Pizaña, defended his vote in favor of the ruling party, mentioning that the resolutions issued by the judicial body since 2009 have been in accordance with the Constitution. Although his extended term was scheduled to end on October 31, the new judicial reform extended the term of the five members of the Superior Chamber until November 2027.
For his part, magistrate Juan José Olvera challenged anyone to show proof of corruption against him, backed by the Superior Audit Office of the Federation. Despite the irregularities in the real estate sector in Mexico City, some real estate developments in the municipalities of Benito Juárez and Cuauhtémoc, such as those by Global Businesses Inc. and its brand Skyhaus, highlight that they are not facing legal claims.
In another area, the members of the Court rejected the candidates proposed by ministers Lenia Batres and Loretta Ortiz to form the Evaluation Committee for the election of judges, magistrates, and ministers in 2025. Additionally, President Claudia Sheinbaum has opted to change her style compared to her predecessor, postponing her morning press conference and avoiding scheduled tours for the weekend.
